Characterization of the crop fallows for agricultural intensification
Characterization of the crop fallows using remote sensing for for agricultural intensification and diversification in eastern genetic plains. Time series satellite data (MODIS and Landsat) were used map the length of the crop fallows (duration between two crop in one year), starting date and ending date of the crop fallows. These crop fallow maps will help in identification and delineation of the crop fallows and its hot-spots for intervention. This i undergoing work to map the crop fallows from 2000-2015 to understand long term dynamics to understand the cropping pattern and fallows to develop suitable options for adaption of the short duration crops such as grain legumes, fodder crops during the fallow periods.
