Abstract
Genotyping for FAD mutant alleles was initially done using allele-specific (AS-PCR) and cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) markers for detection of heterozygotes and homozygotes, respectively (Janila et al., 2016). This enabled better resource utilization but was cost intensive genotyping of one sample using CAPS marker costs 3.0 USD. The protocol for DNA isolation using seed chip is also standardized which will be helpful to minimize the resource required for genotyping (Figure 3). It reduces the time and resources required for planting and labeling individual plants in the field.
