Abstract
The innovation is in trying to mimic in pearl millet, in a quicker manner, a similar increase in sowing density that has happened over a century in maize. The innovation would consist in screening and using donor parents that are highly “resistant” to high density, thereby creating a jump-forward in the breeding process of pearl millet, doing quicker and knowingly what maize breeding has done unknowingly over a century.
