A workshop for results sharing and strategic planning for valorization of Malian sorghum BCNAM populations was held in Thiès, Senegal on November 15-16, 2018. Twenty-three (23) participants from 7 countries and 10 research institutions attended. Workshop covered participants from public research institutions, mainly composed of sorghum breeders and geneticists, from Burkina Faso (INERA), France (CIRAD, IRD), Mali (IER), Niger (INRAN), Senegal (ISRA), Togo (ITRA) and Universities (KSU/USA), IPR/IFRA (Mali) and CGIAR (ICRISAT India and Mali). The purpose of the workshop was to bring together sorghum breeders and geneticists to share results, experiences gained during the implementation of the BCNAM project and to setup perspectives for breeding activities. The topics covered during the workshop were on: (1) PhD students and post-docs carried out within the framework of GCP projects or similar projects, (2) Main QTL found in BCNAM populations and their potential interest for breeding, (3) Breeding activities already in progress (4) New molecular markers assisted breeding activities (5) Proposition of additional phenotyping activities.
