Abstract
Jordan is located between 32o and 29o N
latitude and 39o and 35o E longitude. It is
bordered by the Palestine Authority in
the west, Iraq and Saudi Arabia in the east,
Syria in the north and Saudi Arabia in the
south.
The country has a total area of 8.93 million
hectare of which arable land occupy 7.8%.
Agricultural production is mainly rainfed
(98%) and field crops (i.e. cereals, food and
feed legumes), orchards (mainly olive trees)
and vegetables occupy 65.5%, 25.5%, 9.0%,
respectively.
