Simple, 3-way and double (4 parent) crosses are created among stress tolerant parents, and including parents for high grain iron. F2 populations are screened under drought stress and promising families are harvested in bulk. F3 bulked populations were evaluated under moderate fertility stress and were inoculated with the anthracnose pathogen (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum) for individual plant selections. F3.4 families were likewise grown with moderate fertility stress and selected under pressure of angular leaf spot. F3.5 families were returned to the drought nursery where yield trials were run in a 10 x 10 lattice design with 3 replicates. Twelve check lines were included in all trials to have a firm basis on which to compare yields across trials, and to be able to standardize yields. It should be noted thaten_US
