For making crosses, parents were planted on 4 m row plot with inter row distance of 60 cm. F1 seeds were space planted (25 cm between plants) in each row. F2 populations were grown on 50 m row plots, whereas F3 and F5 populations were on 100 m row plots. Except F1s, other populations were grown without any supplementary irrigation. True F1s were identified based on visual observations and using molecular markers.en_US
