A in close partnership with the Climate Change Adaptation and Agribusiness Support Programme (CASP) of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nigeria (FMARD), worked towards mainstreaming climate adaptation measures through landscape rehabilitation efforts in seven States. These include Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto which are located in the Savannah belt on the dry northern region of the country. The project focused on promoting sustainable land management practices including soil erosion control, and water and soil conservation measures through participatory approaches that involved and engaged local communities and State representatives. As part of this collaborative work, ICARDA has developed a community-based participatory approach to evaluate sets of potential soil and water conservation (SWC) and water harvesting (WH) practices and identify those responding to the specific community needs.en_US
