This volume contains papers that were presented at a three-day workshop entitled “Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Policy Research in Central Asia: Setting the Priorities,” held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in July 1999. The papers that were prepared in Russian by collaborators in Central Asia have been translated into English for this volume. The workshop was co-organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Uzbekistan Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Rural Restructuring Agency, and the Tashkent State Agrarian University. The workshop was cosponsored by the Central Asia and the Caucasus (CAC) program of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and IFPRI.
