The overall goal of the guidelines is to demonstrate – sustainable rangeland management: recommendations on ecological restoration of rangelands in the semi-arid rangelands. Rangelands take pride of place among global ecosystems. They make up more than 54% of the land, and provide a rich range of resources, including soils, water, vegetation and genetic diversity. These landscapes also have a critical role to play economic importance worldwide in achieving food and nutrition security, water, jobs, livelihoods and climate change. Rangelands are under growing pressure from land degradation as well as crop expansion, climate change and misuse. Therefore, appropriate rangeland management includes careful assessment and inventorying of available resources based on key indicators are highly needed. These Guidelines on Sustainable Rangeland Management Rangelands aim at enhancing the capacity development of partners, researcher and other stakeholders on sustainable restoration of degraded rangelands.
