Abstract

The date palm annually depletes large quantities of nutrients in the processes of vegetative growth and the production of new fronds and lost in the pruning process, including the removal of dry leaves, some green leaves, and leaf base remnants of old pollen and fruits. It is estimated that one date palm to give a yield of 45 kg of dates consumes 600 g of phosphorus, 225 g of potassium, and the estimated annual loss per hectare of elements is 54 kg N, 7 kg, P, and 144 kg K. shortage of these elements in soil will affect the date palm production. Most palm nutrient deficiencies can be readily diagnosed using visual symptoms alone. However, in many cases, leaf analysis can also help confirm a diagnosis.
