Abstract
"Date palm cultivation current status, emerging challenges and future prospects in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa"
The current situation of date palm cultivation in the world in general and in the Gulf Arab states in particular faces many challenges, the most important are:
a) Weakness in responding to market requirements of good quality of dates
b) Limited access to high Value markets with very limited quantities of dates exported from the Gulf region compared to the huge quantity produced.
c) Weakness in the adoption and use of integrated and sustainable management to control palm pests, particularly borers and RPW.
