| dc.description.abstract | In Eastern Kenya, Meru, farmers are celebrating better potato harvests. Over the past 2 years they have witnessed a transformation to potato farming in their area. From harvesting approximately 10 tonnes per hectare to 28 tonnes per hectare, their yields have increased tremendously. These farmers have risen from earlier practices of using poor quality seed saved from earlier harvests or purchased from unregulated local markets to clean seed potato now available near them. They have also adopted good agronomic practices working closely with trained Village Based Potato Advisors (VPAs). | en_US |
