Fundamentals of Agriculture-based Startups

Abstract

This manual has been designed for a two-hour awareness training on agriculture-based startups, aimed at young rural men and women in Morocco and Tunisia. It is intentionally compact. Two hours is not enough time to teach someone how to run a business; it is enough to introduce three things clearly: what an agricultural startup is, how such a business is established, and how it is managed. The hope is that some participants will leave the session motivated to take a serious next step — enrolling in a longer training program, joining an existing cooperative, applying to one of the youth-entrepreneurship competitions described in Section 5, or simply starting to keep records of an income-generating activity they already have.
