Abstract
ICARDA's research was set up to have a farming systems orientation. The major aim was to develop appropriate technologies that could be easily integrated into the existing farming systems in the region. This should increase the quality and quantity of food, and in turn, improve the well-being of the population, particularly the smallholder and resources poor farmers.
