Hamidou Falalou. (1/2/2017). Explore options for screening sorghum varieties for drought adaptation specifically for Sahelian growing conditions (sandy soils, low P).
In lysimetric system, 28 landraces and improved varieties from Burkina and Niger were assessed for response to low phosphorus and water deficit in complete randomized bloc design with 5 replications. Low phosphorus (LP) treatment consisted of using soil (Bray-P1<5) while water deficit treatment was to skip irrigation at 50% flowering date. Stressed plants were compared to unstressed plants, Morphophysiological and agronomic traits were measured on both plants.
