Abstract
During a workshop, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 8 – 11 December 2014, 40 participants
from research organisations, development partners as well as representatives from development
organisations and the farmers’ community in Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and
Kyrgyzstan, see Annex A for a list of participants), jointly explored the possibilities of applying
Agricultural Innovation Systems perspectives and Innovation Platform approaches in the
respective countries. The objectives of the workshop were:
‐ To create a common understanding of Agricultural Innovation Systems and Innovation
Platforms
‐ To identify stakeholders in the Agricultural Innovation System in the intervention sites
‐ To identify entry points for action for establishing Innovation Platforms in the three
countries
‐ To identify opportunities and constraints to agricultural innovation and development
‐ To develop an intervention framework (country level)
‐ To develop a joint strategy and action plan (region)
