Camels excel in extreme climates, thriving in temperatures up to 50°C and minimizing water stress. They are vital to the economy, with a $10 billion dairy market, alongside contributions in transport and wool production. Tunisia has 238,000 camels, mainly in the arid south. However, the sector struggles, producing only 15,000 tonnes of milk versus 1,000 tonnes reported, and meat production plummeted from 63,254 tonnes in 2009 to just 21 tonnes in 2015. Despite these issues, camels have significant potential for rangeland restoration and climate adaptation.en_US
