Grain and fodder qualities are key traits for sorghum breeding in West-Africa (WA). Phenotyping of these qualities are challenging and requires high throughput technologies to tackle the number of progenies that are handled in breeding programs. Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) has been extensively used as an indirect, fast, and non-destructive method to access many traits simultaneosly on stover and grain of sorghum, pearl millet and other crops. The NIRS technique is being applied on sorghum populations grains and stem for the BCNAM project and millet stovers from ICRISAT, Niamey. The main objective of this project was to provide operational support to the transfer and adaptation of NIRS calibrations for grain and stover quality at IER.en_US
