The presentation "Optimizing cereal stubble grazing by sheep" shows that: i) Livestock can be perfectly integrated into Conservation Agriculture (CA) notably through its role in nutrient recycling; ii) Forage crops introduced into crop rotations may constitute an element of this integration and forage crops can often be duplicated, for forage and for soil cover; iii) The trade-off between leaving crop residue in fields as soil cover and using the crop residue as animal feed will have to be resolved, especially in arid areas with low biomass production; iv) The wider adoption of CA in regions characterized by climate change and the integration of livestock is seen as a strategic challenge to find a compromise between the use of organic matter to feed animals or soil cover; v) It has been shown that solutions are possible, by optimizing stubble grazing and /or offering breeders other options. These new orientations could be considered in future dissemination actions.
