Abstract
During the last ten years, the CAC Program has achieved considerable progress in three areas of
research and development activities, namely conservation of genetic resources, germplasm
enhancement and crop diversification, and efficient soil and water management, and in one more
supportive area of activities, the strengthening of the NARS. The United Nations Economic
Commission for Europe (UNECE) used the expertise of several of the above mentioned international
centers, to develop the Environmental Performance Review 2008 on Uzbekistan.
During the reporting period, between August 2008 and August 2009, work in these areas has
continued and was supported by all the partners of the Program. This report highlights, in brief,
major activities undertaken by the Consortium partners in the year 2008/2009.
The Eco-regional Program for CAC is organized under broad themes, with each theme sub-divided
into activities, as follows, and which correspond to the outputs of the program.
