Hingane Anupama, Chanda Venkata Sameer Kumar, Abhishek Rathore. (10/2/2017). Development of waterlogging tolerant genotypes in pigeonpea.
F4 mapping population developed between water-logging tolerant (ICP 5028) X Sensitive (ICP 7035) was screened for water-logging tolerance in cement pond. Each pot was filled with 10 kg of soil mixture containing vertisols and farmyard manure in the ratio of 50:1 (v/v). For each progeny, five pots were prepared (four for imposing stress treatment and one as control) with four seeds/pot, at 2-3 cm soil depth in a completely randomized block design. Pigeonpea plants were allowed to grow normally till 35 days and stress treatment was given to 35-days old seedlings by submerging the pots in cement pond filled with water for 8 days. Observations were recorded on plant survival, senescence score and chlorophyll index before and after water-logging treatment.
