Abstract
These vast areas of rangelands represent an important economic resource which significantly contributes to natìonal income and provides livelihood for pastoral people of the countries of the Near East region. Nationalization of rangelands has decreased the control of local communities over land resources and enhanced overexploitation and agricultural encroachment, resulting in wide degradation and desertification.
