This report provides a summary of the proceedings, findings and results of a Developing a Rangeland Restoration / Rehabilitation Toolbox expert meeting held Within the context of designing and planning for a new comprehensive rangeland management toolbox for dry land areas to help promote sustainable land use. The meeting was organized by the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in collaboration with the national International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Tunisian and Jordanian national partners, in Hammamet- Tunisia, 16-18 April 2019. The main objective of the workshop was to Develop a rangeland restoration / rehabilitation toolbox specific to the dry areas. This included a site-specific tool to manage agrosilvopastoral production systems sustainably in the dry areas, achieving a neutral level of degradation and offering a strong potential to restore degraded rangelands. The workshop brought together various regional and national delegates, from ministries, universities and research institutes and international organizations. Throughout the three-day workshop, presentations and discussions were held on the addressing the underlying root causes of agrosilvopastoral ecosystem degradation at the local scale and in different contexts, sustainable rangeland management practices and main representative case studies from the dry areas (MENA or WANA region).
