The project’s goal is to increase food security in the West Asia and North Africa region by improving the productivity and production of wheat-legume based cropping systems, while dealing with obstacles related to increasing climate variability. Current farm yields of crops in the region are far below their potential. The project started work with NARS partners during growing season 2012-2013 with field activities in eight countries due to the delay in the signature of project contract (August 2012). NARS partners and ICARDA conducted the majority of the activities planned for 2013. The number of activities planned for 2014 targeting farmers has increased considerably as has the number of farmers involved in and of information dissemination activities. In the 2013-2014 period it is planned to transform some demonstration platforms into innovation platforms.en_US
